Semaglutide with B12 (Brand names Ozempic and Wegovy) is now available for women ages 18 years and older at Willow Health and Aesthetics in Eugene, Oregon.

SEMAGLUTIDE is a prescription medication used for the treatment of type two diabetes, obesity, or having an overweight status in combination with other health concerns related to being overweight. Using Semaglutide as prescribed can assist with weight loss efforts. It is recommended to use Semaglutide in combination with regular exercise, consume a healthy diet rich in vegetables, fruits, and lean proteins. Small portions of all meals are recommended. Side effects are likely if you eat moderate or large amounts of fried or fatty foods while on Semaglutide.

Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient that helps the body create DNA, nourishes the brain and nervous system, and assists with the formation of healthy red blood cells (RBCs). Many patients experience improved energy, mood, hair, and nail growth, as well as improvement in skin appearance.

Semaglutide with B12 is a self administered subcutaneous (SC) weekly injection you place into your abdomen 1-2 inches away from your belly button.

How does Semaglutide work?

It is a Glucagon-like Peptide agonist otherwise referred to as a GLP-1 agonist. It mimics the effects of an intestinal hormone that’s released each time you eat food and it creates the feeling of satiety (feeling full) with less food. The hormone is absorbed in your bloodstream and then works its effects through your brain and pancreas to:

  1. Activate GLP-1.
  2. Increase insulin secretion from the pancreas and subsequently help to lower your blood sugar.
  3. Decreases or delays gastric emptying so your food takes longer to digest.

How safe is it?

Semaglutide is derived from other medications that have been on the market for 20+ years so safety is well established for this class of drug. Be aware that when you stop Semaglutide you will likely gain the weight back if the reduction in food intake is not maintained upon discontinuation of medication.

How do you dose Semaglutide?

Start with 0.25 mg every week for 4 weeks, then titrate up monthly, with a maximum dose of 2 mg.
Many patients do not need this max dose as they lose weight on smaller doses or increases in dosing cause intolerable side effects.
